Our cycling guidelines of engagement generally ignore head safety to emphasis on pedaling due in no tiny part to the Bell Gage Helmet. Considering that its Fusion In-Mold Microshell is bonded with an internally reinforced EPS liner, the Gage manages to conserve weight compared to versions without In-Mold engineering while still diffusing impacts through its construction so we can engage safely with the road — even if that engagement outcomes in the occasional mishap. Bell’s TAG Fit Method makes it possible for for adjustments to the head

If you recognize the difference between Bell and Giro fits, this one just seems to be MORE Bell. A little rounder and little snugger when tightened up. Feels great on my noggin, but Bells have always fit well. Lightweight and good ventilation. Retention system feels great and new strap material is a nice change, though locks on the side seem like they may have a tendency to slip.

One note. I can normally wear anything from a medium gauge merino wool cap to a craft windstopper to a thick Walz cap under my previous Bell Sweeps and Bontrager Team Helmets, but it’s a much tighter squeeze to get anything but the lightest caps inside this medium. So if majority of riding in cooler temps, would try a size up to see if it’s necessary.

Overall feels like a great lid.

I bought this very helmet in the same color last year, and got a really low price. It was likely a clearance sale. I never ever that I would pay $100 for a bike helmet, but it was a Bell, and I figure it’s my only head.
I got it and from day one I loved it. After a minute you forget you are wearing it, because it’s so light. It’s very durable and after tossing it around it never nicked up.
What makes this review worth reading is that I left the Gage on my trucks tailgate after a long ride, and lost it. I began shopping again, and despite finding other helmets on sale even cheaper than what I paid originally, I spent $50 more than last time to get same helmet.

I began road biking recreationally last year. Before this helmet, I had the $15 Bell Adrenaline helmet from Target. While riding with the old helmet, my head was sweaty and hot on every ride. I was looking for a new helmet and came across this one for only $75, brand new. For that price, I figured I would give it a shot. Luckily I haven’t had to test it’s crash impact performance but here is a little bit about the helmet:

I have a 23.5 inch head and the Large size fits perfectly. This helmet has a nice adjustable system on the back like most high-end helmets do. You can fine-tune your fit by adjusting the tightness around your head. When it comes to weight, this is a light helmet. The large size weighs 272 grams. Not to mention it looks pretty cool.

The most noticable things about this helmet are its air vents. The streamline design seems to vent air from your head extremely well. I have yet to have an overly sweaty or warm head while wearing this. When riding, the helmet sits comfortably on your head and you hardly even notice it.

Overall, I would highly recommend this helmet. It is currently Bell’s best helmet and can compete with any of Giro’s $250+ helmets. If you are in the market, I would definitely go with the Gage.
